Steve is a four time Olympian, who has made his mark in Australian sport as one of our most successful marathon runners, with a World Championship bronze medal, a set of Commonwealth Games Gold, silver and bronze medals as well as top ten finishes at the Olympic Games.
Ballarat born and bred, Steve has been a great supporter of the Ballarat Sports Foundation, providing his time as it's Patron since the Ballarat Sports Foundations inception and continues to promote it's philosophy. providing encouragement to the many athletes receiving Ballarat Sports Foundation scholarships as they continue their sporting journey.
Shayne is Ballarat's first ever Olympic swimming representative, who achieved outstanding international success in the pool with Olympic Gold and Bronze medals, 5 World Championships Gold medals, 6 World Short Course Gold medals, a Commonwealth Games Gold medal and has held multiple World, Commonwealth and Australian records.
Shayne is a great Ballarat role model not only as a highly successful athlete, but also as a successful business woman who has followed her passion to give back to the local community, teaching the vital skills of swimming through the 'Shayne Reese Swimming' swim school. The Ballarat Sports Foundation is very pleased to have Shayne as it's Patron and believes her journey and support will help inspire our local athletes.
