The Ballarat Sports Foundation receives and allocates funds and Awards annually through the generosity of a number of benefactors. The grants provide support to specific sporting areas and are open to athletes and associations which meet the fund or award criteria.
Rex has been a long-time supporter of the Ballarat Sports Foundation and a founding member of the inaugural Ballarat Sports Foundation Board, serving on the executive for more than 20 years. A keen and passionate sportsperson, administrator and mentor to so many people in our local community. The Rex Hollioake Award is offered annually in April and announced in early May at the (Business to be confirmed). The fund provides financial support to a young, up and coming junior athlete to further their sporting endeavours. The recipient also receives a (Business to be confirmed) voucher.
The Ballarat Sportsmen’s Club conducts this annual dinner in recognition of its Inaugural President, the late Mr Arthur Martin. During the evening, Arthur Martin's daughter, Trudi Kannourakis and her husband Professor George Kannourakis present the Club with a financial donation for the Ballarat Sports Foundation. This support is very much appreciated and is directed towards the Ballarat Sports Foundation biannual scholarship rounds.
